Do i need to hire someone for my marketing?

Yes.

If you are asking yourself this question, the answer is yes. I’m not telling you to hire an agency or another employee. Hear me out…

You are great at [insert your job]. This does not make you an expert in marketing or social media. “But I post on social media” - great. Having a social media page or pages does NOT make you a social media expert.

  • I have teeth. This does not make me a dentist.

  • I have kids. This does not make me a teacher.

  • I have a husband. This does not make me cook dinner.

Catch my drift?

Listen, I understand that every other Gen Z and “older millennial” is claiming to be an expert, knows how to make you a millionaire by only working 3-hours a week, or can make unicorns fly. Our social media feeds are flooded with these “experts” and I’m calling bulls*t.

I have yet to meet a millionaire who has to hard sell their product or service on social media channels. Why not? Because they are busy making millions. Not claiming to be making millions.

I’ll give it to them, Gen Zers have a real knack for creating viral content, but viral content isn’t the goal. (gasp!)

The goal is to grow your loyal customer list, remind them of the value you provide them, and cement your authority within your particular industry. THATS the goal.

Having 1 Million followers doesn’t pay the bills. Having engaged followers and loyal customers pays the bills. Every. Single. Time.

How do I know what marketing support I need?

This is going to vary from business to business. I know, such a cop-out of an answer. But it is true!

This is also going to vary based on who you ask.

The ugly truth is a lot of "professionals” will charge an arm and a leg for their services with little ROI. That sucks. We work hard for our money and 9 times out of 10, people want to get the maximum return on their spend.

Here’s what we recommend:

  1. Do your research. Ask people in a similar position to you or someone you look up to about their marketing. Get multiple quotes. If something feels “off”, it likely is.

  2. Get back into dating mode. Think of it like a blind date. Or one of those dating round-robins.

  3. Stick to your budget. It is very easy to be pushed into spending more money than you are comfortable with or can afford.

  4. Ask us! Seriously. Our feelings arent hurt if you don’t request a quote from us for work. We are still happy to help you sift through other options and point you in the right direction.

No one expects you to be great at everything. How exhausting would that be?

The first step is understanding that marketing / social media is not your area of expertise and you know you need support from someone who knows wtf they’re doing.
